PM Yashasvi Scholarship, officially known as PM YASASVI (Pradhan Mantri Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India), is a scholarship scheme for eligible students from OBC, EBC and DNT categories.

For 2026-27, NSP lists separate PM YASHASVI scholarship options for Top Class Education in Schools and Top Class Education in College.

Apply Online for PM YASHASVI Scholarship: Steb by Step Guide

The application process is entirely online through the NSP portal at scholarships.gov.in. Here are the steps:

Step 1: Complete OTR (One Time Registration) Go to scholarships.gov.in Students section and click “Apply for One Time Registration (OTR).” Download the NSP OTR app from Google Play Store. Complete face authentication using your Aadhaar number. Your OTR is a unique 14-digit number valid for your entire academic career, you only do this once.

Step 2: Log In to Your NSP Dashboard Use your OTR number and password to log in. First time users will set a password during OTR. Returning students log in with their existing OTR credentials.

Step 3: Select the Correct PM YASHASVI level From the list of 2026-27 schemes, find and select the right PM YASHASVI scholarship option school (Top Class School Education) or college (Top Class College Education). If you are renewing, select the Renewal option instead of Fresh.

Step 4: Fill the Application Form Enter your personal details, category, family income, academic details, and current school or institution name. Enter your bank account details carefully, these must match your Aadhaar-seeded account.

Step 5: Upload Required Documents Upload scanned copies of each document as specified. Check the file format and size limits on the portal (usually JPEG/PDF). Review every upload before proceeding.

PM Yashasvi Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship helps students pay for education related expenses. The amount of financial help depends on the student’s class or course and the PM YASASVI scholarship they are eligible for.

For pre matric, the scholarship can help with tuition fees, hostel fees and other approved expenses. As per the Ministry, students in Classes 9 and 10 can get up to ₹75,000 per year, while students in Classes 11 and 12 can get up to ₹1,25,000 per year.

PM YASHASVI Scheme 2026-27 Latest Update

• The NSP portal opened for Academic Year 2026-27 from 1 June 2026.
• Pre Matric Scholarship (Classes 9 – 12): Applications open. Last date – 31 August 2026. Note: the current NSP listing shows this deadline under the renewal window. Fresh applicants should check their eligibility status (fresh or renewal) on the NSP portal before applying.
• Post Matric Scholarship: Applications open. Last date: 31 October 2026.
• No entrance exam for 2026-27
• New NSP rule from AY 2026-27: NSP has classified scholarships into merit based and welfare based schemes.
• OTR is mandatory: Every student must complete One Time Registration (OTR) on NSP before applying. This is a one-time process for your entire academic career.

Pre Matric Level

There is no entrance exam for the pre matric scholarship in 2026-27. Selection is based on the merit list, which is determined by the student’s marks in their previous qualifying examination.

The process works as follows:

1. Application submission: Student applies through NSP with valid OTR.
2. Institute verification: The school verifies the student’s details and academic records on NSP.
3. Nodal officer verification: District, state, and ministry nodal officers review and approve applications at each level.
4. Merit list: A final selection list is published on NSP. Students can check at scholarships.gov.in/onlineSanctionedList by selecting the academic year, scheme, state, and district.
5. DBT payment: The scholarship amount is transferred directly to the student’s Aadhaar-linked bank account. Students can check their payment status through the PFMS website.

At least 30% of scholarships are reserved for girl students as per the scheme mandate.

Post Matric Level

For the Post-Matric Scholarship, students are selected based on their admission to eligible institutions. For example, admission to NITs may be based on a JEE Main rank, while other institutions may have their own eligibility criteria. The Ministry verifies the admissions and provides the scholarship funds accordingly.
